0272. David P. Meader (1837 – 1892)

David P. Meader, son of Jesse E. Meader (1802-1881) [0147] and Hannah York (b.1811), was born July 6, 1837 in Rochester, NH and died there April 13, 1892. He served for three months during the Civil War, the normal term of enlistment, with Company H, First Regiment, New Hampshire Volunteers. Subsequently he served as Surgeon's Steward, under Dr. Frisbie of Newton, NH in the U. S. Navy on the Honduras in the East Gulf Blockading Squadron.

He married:
1) Mary Abbie Chandler, on October 21, 1868. She was born December 25, 1847 in Dover and died March 7, 1869. After his wife's death David Meader returned to live with his parents.
2) Ella S. York, born in 1855 and died in 1952.
The children of David Meader and Ella York were:
1859 i. Evelyn F. Meader, born August 2, 1876.
2007 ii. Herbert Edwin Meader, born February 19, 1880.
1860 iii. Frederick J. Meader, born April 29, 1883 and died in 1901.
